Pumps Wiki Knowledge

What are the types of commonly used agricultural pumps

1. Single stage single suction centrifugal pump

The old pump models include BA and B single stage single suction centrifugal pumps. In the 1980s, China updated and developed centrifugal pump products based on international standards and the actual situation of drainage and irrigation machinery, and produced IB and IQ single stage centrifugal pump series products, which have been listed as national professional standards and industry standards.

A single stage single suction centrifugal pump is called a single stage single suction centrifugal pump, where water enters the impeller from an axial direction on one side and there is only one impeller. Its characteristics are that compared with mixed flow pumps and axial flow pumps, it has a higher head, smaller flow rate, simple structure, and convenient use.

2. Single stage double suction centrifugal pump

It is a single stage double suction centrifugal pump that feeds water from both sides of the impeller. As the pump cover and body are assembled using horizontal seams, it is also known as a horizontally split centrifugal pump. Compared with single stage single suction centrifugal pumps, it has high efficiency, large flow rate, and higher head. But it is large and relatively bulky, usually used for fixed operations. Suitable for irrigation areas with moderate areas in hills and plateaus, as well as for factories, mines, urban water supply and drainage, etc.

3. Multi-stage centrifugal pump

Compared to a single stage pump, the difference lies in the fact that a multi-stage pump has more than two impellers, which can absorb and press water in stages and multiple times, thereby lifting the water to a very high position. The head can be increased or decreased according to the number of stages of the pump impeller as needed. Multi stage pumps are mainly used for mine drainage, urban and factory water supply, and are rarely used for agricultural irrigation. They are only suitable for lifting water in high lift and low flow mountainous areas to solve the problem of drinking water for humans and livestock. There are two types of multi-stage high center pumps: vertical and horizontal. The main models include D-type and DL type multi-stage centrifugal pumps, and DW and DWL type small multi-stage centrifugal pumps.

4. Self priming centrifugal pump

A self priming pump is a single stage, single suction centrifugal pump that produces self priming effect due to the special structure of the pump itself, and is called a self priming centrifugal pump. Compared with ordinary centrifugal pumps, there are significant differences in pump body structure: firstly, the pump inlet position is increased, and sometimes a suction valve is installed; The second is to set up a gas-water separation chamber on the outlet side.
External self priming pump refers to a self priming device attached to the pump, such as a vortex pump, water ring vacuum pump, jet pump, and manual pump.
Compared with ordinary centrifugal pumps, self priming pumps have a compact structure and simple operation. They not only save the trouble of filling a large amount of water before starting, but also save the low valve of the inlet pipe, reduce the inlet resistance, and increase the pump's water output. However, compared with ordinary centrifugal pumps of the same specification, the efficiency is lower by 3% to 5%. Self priming pumps are mostly used in small and light sprinkler irrigation units and pipeline irrigation units.
The water pump can also be installed on large water treatment equipment. The application range is still very broad.
